Civil Engineer IV

DUTIES:

Civil Engineer IV work examples: Normally serves as Branch Head and/or as Project Officer in charge of one or more major engineering projects. Assists management in long-range planning and budgetary projections. Works in close concert with management, consultants and contractors concerning planned and ongoing projects. Also, usually performs duties similar to those assigned to Civil Engineer III. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or allied field, and Certification by the State of Louisiana as a Registered Professional Engineer; or twelve (12) years experience in Civil Engineering field and Certification by the State of Louisiana as a Registered Professional Civil Engineer.
  • Ability to apply professional engineering principles; ability to maintain harmonious working relationships; creative talent and imagination; ability to perceive and visualize spatial relationships of plane and solid objects; logical mind; facility in mathematics; verbal facility and ability to write and print clearly and distinctly.

The deadline for submission is April 04, 2014, no later than 12:00 PM.

SALARY:

  • $4,584.66 - $7,293.86 Monthly

Bridge Paint Inspector

Modjeski and Masters, Inc. a employee owned bridge engineering and inspection firm is looking to hire two Bridge Paint Inspectors to work in the Greater Baton Rouge area. Qualified application should have a minimum of 3 years repainting structures experience.

Education and License Requirements:

  • NACE or SSPE trained coatings inspectors of any level preferred
  • Must be able to pass a security background check

General Responsibilities/Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Perform visual inspections and prepare inspection reports with recommendations.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Physically capable of climbing ladders and stairways, working on narrow walkways and platforms at high elevations, and access equipment to inspect metalwork for proper surface preparation, coating application and document inspection findings
  • Be experienced in visual inspection and in using industry standard gauges and instruments for testing and inspection.
  • Have good command of the English language with good oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Since this will be a field job, the employee will be required to work long hours, 6 days a week to cover all painting contract activities.

Education and License Requirements:

  • A minimum of a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university is preferred
  • Qualified Technicians are also encouraged to apply

  • Perform visual inspections and document / record keeping of the field inspection work.

Training:

  • Company will provide NBIS Bridge Safety Inspection and other job skill related training

General Responsibilities/Essential Functions of the Job may include:

  • Perform bridge and construction engineering and inspection work
  • Prepare inspection and repair plans/reports

Skills and Abilities:

  • Physically capable of climbing ladders and stairways, working on narrow walkways and platforms at high elevations, such as bridge superstructures during inspections, and working from snoopers, manlifts and other access means
  • Have good command of the English language with good oral and written communication skills

Working Conditions:

  • Considerable amount of travel and overnight stays are required for most bridge inspection
  • Position involves being exposed to severe weather conditions
