The CITY OF BATON ROUGE/PARISH OF EAST BATON ROUGE

The City OF Baton Rouge, Parish of East Baton Rouge, Louisiana is currently seeking qualified applicants for the following positions within the Department of Public Works.


Engineer Intern
  • Starting Base Salary: Up to $51,062 annually (DOE)
  • Maximum Base Salary: $55,796 annually
  • Required: Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the recognized branches of engineering. LA Engineer Intern Certification.

Senior Engineer Intern
  • Starting Base Salary: Up to $56,295 annually (DOE)
  • Maximum Base Salary: $61,515 annually
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the recognized branches of engineering, and two years experience as an Engineer Intern. LA Engineer Intern Certification.

Professional Engineer I
  • Starting Base Salary: Up to $62,066 annually (DOE)
  • Maximum Base Salary: $67,821 annually
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the recognized branches of engineering, and four years experience in professional engineering. LA PE License.

Professional Engineer II
  • Starting Base Salary: Up to $65,169 annually (DOE)
  • Maximum Base Salary: $71,212 annually
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the recognized branches of engineering, and six years experience in professional engineering. LA PE License.

Professional Engineer III
  • Starting Base Salary: Up to $71,849 annually (DOE)
  • Maximum Base Salary: $78,511 annually
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the recognized branches of engineering, and eight years experience in professional engineering, including one year supervisory experience. LA PE License.

Professional Engineer IV
  • Starting Base Salary: Up to $75,441 annually (DOE)
  • Maximum Base Salary: $82,437 annually
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in a recognized branch of professional engineering, and ten years experience in professional engineering, including two years supervisory experience. LA PE License.

Extra Salary Information:

Staff Engineer Position

Red River Waterway Commission

The Red River Waterway Commission, located in Natchitoches, Louisiana, is currently accepting applications for a Staff Engineer. Additional information regarding the position is as follows:


Job Summary:

     The Staff Engineer will provide supervision, administration, and inspection of construction and/or maintenance projects to support the Red River Waterway Commission’s goal of economic, community, and recreation development throughout the District. Direction supervision will be by the Engineering Supervisor. The Red River Waterway Commission, through its Executive Director, will provide the overall direction of work.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • Possession of a current Louisiana Professional Engineer’s License in the field of Civil Engineering or the ability to obtain registration in Louisiana by reciprocity within one year of employment

Additional Specialized Knowledge and Skills that would be a plus include:

  • Experience working for, or with, public agencies, including knowledge of public bid law
  • Experience reading, reviewing, and interpreting construction plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, river related construction and maintenance projects including dredging, bank stabilization, erosion control, etc.
  • Experience with budget preparation and public finance
  • Ability to communicate with contractors, consultants, business leaders, political leaders, and the general public
  • Background or general knowledge of surveying principles
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Ability to work in an office environment, along with a Board of Directors
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and/or WordPerfect
  • Background in GIS and Computer Aided Design programs
  • Leadership and management skills

Major Job Duties
Major job duties for the Staff Engineer include:

  • Assistance with acquisition and management of contracts for engineering, surveying, geotechnical, and environmental services
  • Communication and cooperation with applicable local, state, and federal agencies
  • Assistance with conceptual planning, site selection, technical review of plans and specifications, etc., for the Commission’s recreation and economic development projects
  • Administration of design contracts including invoice reviews, schedule coordination, preparation of Notice to Proceed, coordination of pre-bid conference, etc.
  • Administration of construction contract including coordination of pre-bid and pre-construction conferences, electronic bidding preparation, bid opening and review, contract award, etc.
  • Performance of periodic construction inspection including coordination with contractor’s on-site personnel
  • Development of change orders
  • Assistance in preparation of work program and operating budget
  • Coordination with Operation and Maintenance Department on matters requiring design and/or construction services
  • Coordination with Right of Way Department regarding appraisals, title opinions, acquisitions, etc. on applicable projects
  • Preparation of engineering drawings and specifications on minor projects
  • Performance of other duties as directed by the Engineering Supervisor and/or Executive Director

Salary Range:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Health, dental, and retirement benefits are offered.

Geotechnical Engineer
Metairie, Louisiana
Eustis Engineering Inc.

Eustis Engineering is one of the oldest geotechnical firms in the southeastern United States originally opening its doors in 1946. From a two-man office to more than 100 individuals, the firm has grown to house drilling, engineering, laboratory, and construction materials testing departments. We are headquartered in Metairie, Louisiana, with branch offices in Lafayette and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a sister company, Eustis Engineering Company Inc. of Mississippi, in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Eustis Engineering is currently looking for a Project Engineer.

His/her duties will include the following:

  • Organizing and coordinating in-house company services,
  • Acquiring in-house and outside services to support his/her assignment
  • Serving as a liaison between company departments and acting as an assistant to a Project Manager to coordinate activities between departments
  • Delegating projects to Assistant and Associate Project Engineers and is responsible for peer review of delegated projects
  • Developing the scope of geotechnical exploration and testing programs as well as the scope of analyses and evaluations for engineering proposals
  • Maintaining good client contact and ongoing coordination for extended projects
  • Attending meetings as representative of the company
  • Performing standard as well as rigorous and difficult engineering analyses and evaluations
  • Actively developing an experience base relied on by clients as well as Assistant and Project Engineers
  • Supervising and coordinating the work of Assistant and Associate Engineers and Engineering Technicians

The applicant must have strong writing skills and be able to balance workload and meet deadlines. The applicant should also exhibit characteristics of leadership and teamwork.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • PE License (Louisiana Registration)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering (Master's Degree preferred)
